Microsoft Office 2016 Standard: familiar Office programs for one PC

Office 2016 Standard combines Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, OneNote and Publisher in one package. Many users have known the ribbon interface for years, so there is no need to get used to anything new. You buy the licence once; it is valid indefinitely for one Windows PC.

This edition makes sense, for example, for private users who create letters, household budgets or presentations, or for small offices whose forms and Excel lists were created under Office 2016. It is also a good fit for a second computer in the workshop, the warehouse or a workstation without internet access.

To be frank: Microsoft ended support on 14 October 2025. You should take this into account before buying.

Standard or Professional Plus?

Office 2016 Professional Plus additionally includes Access for databases and Skype for Business for communication in company networks. If you need neither program, Standard is sufficient. Compared with Office 2019 Standard, the 2016 version has one advantage: OneNote is included directly.

Office 2024 Standard is a currently supported alternative. Microsoft provides updates for this version until 9 October 2029.

System requirements

• Windows 10 or Windows 11; we advise against older systems
• No Mac version, not for Chromebooks
• Internet for download and activation

Support period

Office 2016 reached the end of its support on 14 October 2025. Microsoft no longer provides security updates. The programs can still be installed and used as before. For a computer on which you frequently open email attachments from the internet, a supported version is the more cautious choice.

How purchase and activation work

• Buy: After your payment, you will receive the licence key together with instructions by email, usually within a few minutes.
• Download: Use the download link in the instructions to obtain the installation files and set up Office.
• Activate: Activation runs online with Microsoft, occasionally also by phone. If you need help, you can reach us by email; on request, we can assist via remote support.
