Windows 10 Home: an honest assessment
Please note: Support for Windows 10 Home expired on 14 October 2025. Since then, Microsoft has no longer provided regular security updates. If your PC can run Windows 11, we recommend Windows 11 Home.
Windows 10 Home remains an option for older laptops and desktop PCs that are still good enough for word processing, music or films but do not meet the requirements of Windows 11. It also lets you keep working if you use a program, a game or an accessory such as a scanner for which only Windows 10 drivers exist.
The licence is perpetual, valid for one PC and requires no subscription.

- Windows Hello for signing in with a PIN, face or fingerprint on suitable hardware
- Windows Security with Microsoft Defender and firewall

Windows 10 Home compared
Compared with Windows 10 Pro, it lacks BitLocker, Hyper-V, the Remote Desktop host and Group Policy; these tools are rarely needed on a private computer. If required, Home can be upgraded with a Pro key. Compared with Windows 11 Home, Windows 10 is less demanding on hardware but no longer receives regular updates. If your device meets the requirements for Windows 11, Microsoft offers compatible PCs an upgrade; the conditions are set by Microsoft.

TPM 2.0 and Secure Boot are not required.
Support period
Since 14 October 2025, Windows 10 Home has no longer been regularly supported by Microsoft. The PC continues to work, but security vulnerabilities discovered later are no longer fixed as a matter of course. For online banking and handling sensitive data, we recommend a supported system such as Windows 11 as soon as your hardware allows it.
How purchase and activation work
- 1. Order: Once payment has been received, you will get the licence key together with instructions by email, usually within a few minutes.
- 2. Install: Download the installation files from Microsoft or via our download link; on request, we can also send a USB stick via DHL.
- 3. Activate: Enter the key under Settings → Update & Security → Activation. Windows is activated online with Microsoft.

- One key is valid for 1 PC running Windows; macOS and Chromebooks are not supported.

Erhält Windows 10 Home noch Updates?
Nicht mehr regulär. Der Support von Microsoft endete am 14.10.2025. Windows 10 Home läuft weiter, Sicherheitslücken werden aber nicht mehr über das normale Windows Update geschlossen. Wenn Ihr PC es zulässt, empfehlen wir Windows 11 Home.
Warum Windows 10 Home statt Windows 11?
Weil manche ältere PCs Windows 11 nicht unterstützen, etwa ohne TPM 2.0 oder mit einem nicht freigegebenen Prozessor, und weil einzelne Programme oder Geräte nur Treiber für Windows 10 haben. Ein Sicherheitsvorteil ist damit nicht verbunden.
Kann ich später auf Windows 10 Pro oder Windows 11 wechseln?
Auf Windows 10 Pro wechseln Sie mit einem Pro-Schlüssel, in der Regel ohne Neuinstallation. Für Windows 11 muss Ihr PC die Voraussetzungen erfüllen; für kompatible Geräte bietet Microsoft ein Upgrade an, die Bedingungen legt Microsoft fest.
Funktioniert die Lizenz auf einem Mac oder Chromebook?
Nein. Die Lizenz ist für einen PC mit Windows bestimmt; macOS und Chromebooks werden nicht unterstützt.
Woher stammen Ihre Lizenzen?
Unsere Lizenzen beziehen wir über Bezugsquellen innerhalb der Europäischen Union. Auf Anfrage nennen wir Ihnen Einzelheiten zur Herkunft Ihrer Lizenz. Sollte ein Schlüssel wider Erwarten nicht funktionieren, erhalten Sie einen Ersatzschlüssel oder den Kaufpreis zurück.
Kann ich den Kauf widerrufen?
Bei Lizenzschlüsseln per E-Mail erlischt das Widerrufsrecht, sobald wir mit der Lieferung begonnen haben, nachdem Sie im Bestellvorgang ausdrücklich zugestimmt und bestätigt haben, dass Sie dadurch Ihr Widerrufsrecht verlieren (§ 356 Abs. 5 BGB). Für einen zusätzlich bestellten USB-Stick gilt das gesetzliche Widerrufsrecht von 14 Tagen. Einzelheiten finden Sie in unserer Widerrufsbelehrung.
Wann erhalte ich meinen Lizenzschlüssel?
Nach Zahlungseingang senden wir Ihnen den Lizenzschlüssel mit Anleitung per E-Mail, in der Regel innerhalb weniger Minuten. In Einzelfällen, etwa bei einer manuellen Prüfung, kann es länger dauern. Bitte prüfen Sie auch Ihren Spam-Ordner.
