Microsoft Project 2016 Professional for organisations with Project Server 2016
Microsoft Project 2016 Professional is the team edition of the project planning software from the 2016 release. It is licensed independently of Office and runs exclusively on Windows. To be frank: this is the oldest version in our Project range, and its support expired on 14 October 2025.
It is nevertheless in demand, for example among management consultancies, associations or public administrations whose project portfolio is still organised via Project Server 2016. There, workstations need to match the existing server version, and established templates, fields and reports should keep working without any rework. Anyone scheduling consultants across changing client engagements also benefits from the shared resource view.

Differences from Standard and from later releases
Project 2016 Standard is limited to planning by one person and cannot be connected to Project Server. Professional offers this server connection, plus the Team Planner and cross-project resource planning. Later versions have developed individual features and the user interface further. The biggest practical difference, however, remains support: Project 2024 is maintained until 9 October 2029.

Support period
Microsoft discontinued support for Project 2016 as of 14 October 2025. Since then there have been no security updates for this version. Your licence can nevertheless be used indefinitely. We only recommend Project 2016 where it is needed for compatibility with existing systems.
How purchase and activation work
- Order: Once payment has been received, the licence key with instructions is sent by email, usually within a few minutes.
- Install: Download the installation files from Microsoft or via our download link.
- Activate: Enter the key and activate online with the manufacturer, in some cases by phone. We can help by email at info@keychannel.de and, on request, via remote support.

Vor allem in Umgebungen mit Project Server 2016 oder dort, wo vorhandene Vorlagen und Makros auf diese Version abgestimmt sind. Ohne solche Anforderungen empfehlen wir einen aktuelleren Jahrgang.
Wird Project 2016 noch von Microsoft unterstützt?
Nein. Der Support endete am 14.10.2025, seitdem erscheinen keine Sicherheitsupdates mehr. Das Programm bleibt nutzbar.
Worin unterscheidet sich Project 2016 Professional von Standard?
Professional kann sich mit Project Server verbinden und bietet Teamplaner, Ressourcenplanung über mehrere Projekte und die Skype-for-Business-Anwesenheit. Standard ist für Einzelanwender gedacht.

Bei Lizenzschlüsseln per E-Mail erlischt das Widerrufsrecht, sobald wir mit der Lieferung begonnen haben, nachdem Sie im Bestellvorgang ausdrücklich zugestimmt und bestätigt haben, dass Sie dadurch Ihr Widerrufsrecht verlieren (§ 356 Abs. 5 BGB). Nach Zahlungseingang senden wir Ihnen den Lizenzschlüssel mit Anleitung per E-Mail, in der Regel innerhalb weniger Minuten. In Einzelfällen, etwa bei einer manuellen Prüfung, kann es länger dauern. Bitte prüfen Sie auch Ihren Spam-Ordner.
