Microsoft Project 2021 Professional for IT projects and teams
Microsoft Project 2021 Professional is a separately licensed Windows program for planning and managing projects. It is not included in Office. The Professional edition is intended for teams that coordinate staff and budget across multiple projects.
A typical example is IT service providers and in-house IT departments: a server migration, the introduction of industry-specific software and the rollout of workstations run at the same time, and the same administrators are scheduled in all three projects. Project 2021 Professional makes such bottlenecks visible before they put the schedule at risk.
This version is particularly interesting for businesses whose workstations already run Project 2021. Additional computers can be set up at the same level, and existing templates and .mpp files can be used without any changeover.

Differences from Standard and from 2024
Project 2021 Standard is limited to planning by a single person. Professional adds the Team Planner, resource levelling across project boundaries, the server connection and Skype for Business presence. In terms of features, 2021 and 2024 are close; the decisive difference is the length of support. If you are starting without an existing 2021 environment, you should therefore consider Project 2024 Professional.

Support period
Support for Project 2021 ends on 13 October 2026. After that, Microsoft will no longer publish security updates for this version. The program can still be launched and used; for computers holding sensitive data, we recommend switching to the 2024 release in the long term.
How purchase and activation work
- Order: Once payment has been received, the licence key with instructions is sent by email, usually within a few minutes.
- Install: Download the installation files from Microsoft or via our download link.
- Activate: Enter the key and activate online with the manufacturer, in some cases by phone. We can help by email at info@keychannel.de and, on request, via remote support.

Wie lange erhält Project 2021 Professional noch Updates?
Microsoft beendet den Support am 13.10.2026. Danach gibt es keine Sicherheitsupdates mehr; das Programm funktioniert aber weiter. Für einen längeren Zeitraum bietet sich Project 2024 an (Support bis 09.10.2029).
Kann ich Dateien mit Kollegen austauschen, die Project 2024 nutzen?
In der Regel ja. Project 2021 und 2024 verwenden das .mpp-Dateiformat, Projektdateien lassen sich daher zwischen beiden Versionen öffnen.
Brauche ich Office, um Project 2021 zu nutzen?
Nein. Project 2021 Professional ist ein eigenständiges Programm und wird unabhängig von Office installiert und aktiviert. Es läuft nur unter Windows, nicht auf dem Mac.

Nach Zahlungseingang senden wir Ihnen den Lizenzschlüssel mit Anleitung per E-Mail, in der Regel innerhalb weniger Minuten. In Einzelfällen, etwa bei einer manuellen Prüfung, kann es länger dauern. Bitte prüfen Sie auch Ihren Spam-Ordner.
