Microsoft Visio 2021 Professional for IT network plans and infrastructure
Microsoft Visio 2021 Professional is the extended edition of the diagramming program from the 2021 release. The program is not part of Office but a separately licensed application for Windows, which you acquire with a one-time payment.
IT service companies, administrators and IT managers in businesses use it to document their infrastructure: network topologies with switches, firewalls and access points, server cabinets as rack diagrams or the cabling of an office site. Linked to an Excel inventory list, the shapes can show, for example, IP addresses or locations directly in the plan.
This version is intended mainly for environments where Visio 2021 is already in use and further workstations are to be equipped in the same way. The .vsdx files can be exchanged with colleagues who use Visio 2024.

Differences from Standard and from Visio 2024
Visio 2021 Standard offers basic shapes, flowcharts and organisation charts, but no network, UML, BPMN, database or engineering stencils. Data linking, comments and validation are also only available in Professional. For IT documentation, the Professional edition is therefore the right one. Visio 2024 Professional is similar in features and receives updates for longer.

Support period
Microsoft supports Visio 2021 until 13 October 2026. After this date, no more security updates will be published, but the program remains usable. If you want to maintain network documentation on a supported system in the long term, you should consider Visio 2024 with support until 9 October 2029.
How purchase and activation work
- Order: Once payment has been received, the licence key with instructions is sent by email, usually within a few minutes.
- Install: Download the installation files from Microsoft or via our download link.
- Activate: Enter the key and activate online with the manufacturer, in some cases by phone. We can help by email at info@keychannel.de and, on request, via remote support.

Wie lange wird Visio 2021 unterstützt?
