Microsoft Visio 2024 Professional for software architecture and technical diagrams
Microsoft Visio 2024 Professional is the extended edition of Microsoft's diagramming program. It is not part of Office but is licensed as a standalone Windows application and used indefinitely on one PC without a subscription.
Visio Professional is particularly useful for software developers, architects and IT teams who sketch and document systems. Class diagrams, sequence diagrams and use cases in UML, plus database models with tables and relationships: all of this is created with suitable shapes instead of freehand drawings. This keeps architecture decisions understandable for team members who join later.
With support until 2029, the 2024 release is suitable for documentation that is to be maintained for years.

Professional or Standard?
Visio 2024 Standard contains the basic shapes as well as templates for flowcharts and organisation charts. The technical stencils for UML, BPMN, networks, databases and engineering are reserved for the Professional edition, as are the connection to Excel and SQL data, the comment functions and the validation rules. For development teams, Professional is therefore the appropriate edition. Compared with Visio 2021, the main benefit of 2024 is the longer support.

Support period
Visio 2024 receives security updates from Microsoft up to and including 9 October 2029, around three years longer than Visio 2021. The perpetual licence remains valid beyond that date; however, no further updates will be provided after it.
How purchase and activation work
- Order: Once payment has been received, the licence key with instructions is sent by email, usually within a few minutes.
- Install: Download the installation files from Microsoft or via our download link.
- Activate: Enter the key and activate online with the manufacturer, in some cases by phone. We can help by email at info@keychannel.de and, on request, via remote support.
